I'm a guitar player that has more or less always had a few harps and a rake in tow. I've been a "a la Dylan" kinda player up til' now. But as of late I'm focused on becoming a better harp player and I'm diligently reading up, practising and taking some lessons. The question is, now I'm accumulating a few more harps than I've ever had before (gotta dozen or so at the moment) and was thinking about getting one of the "Mississippi Sax" cases from the Fender folks. It's a "too cool" case and I can toss a few extra things in there besides harps. So has anyone invested in one of these cases? Are they worth the bucks? Or is there something better out there? I'd appreciate your thoughts.
They are nice cases, but I wouldn't spend my money on one. If you have the extra bucks, they are certainly "too cool", but not necessary. The Hohner cases are fine.
If you're willing to spend some time, converting new camera cases into harmonica gig bags is also a good solution. Basically, you buy a quality one with the foam inserts and cut them out to fit in what you want. If you are worried about the foam, go to a fabric store and buy some material to line it with. My favorite cases for this purpose are the Pelican cases which are road-tough, waterproof, and strong enough to sit on at a rehearsal.
Keep in mind this is from a guy who stands to make money if you buy the Fender case through our Store. In fact, keep in mind that this site is here because of your purchases through our Store, so for whatever harmonica case you buy, I hope you will support us and buy it from-
