"1st Amp Setup"

   Hi,
I have been playing on and off for years and would call myself a middle of the road player.
I joined Harmonica lessons.com to try and take it to the next level.
I finally picked up a new Fender Blues Junior Amp and a Green Bullet mic.
Can anyone give me the basic starting point for ajusting this amp.
I have tried different setting but, can't seem to get the volume above 3 before getting feedback.
Should I try setting it up in a bigger room?
Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Bluesea

Rick,

To begin with, put your tone settings (EQ: High, Mid, Low) each at around 5. You may have to drop the High down a bit and possibly the Mid. Don't point the mic directly into the speaker. If you have reverb, don't use too much or leave it off. If you have a channel volume and master volume, keep the channel volume around 1 or 2 and increase the master volume. Stand back as far as you can, you may need to pick up a longer cord. Don't be surprised if based on the size of room you are in that you can't get much past 3 regardless of what you do. Try a larger space.

These are all good tips. They may not rid you of feedback and you may have to go the way of changing tubes to reduce the gain in the pre-amp to make it less sensitive to feedback. These amps are designed for guitar, which don't feedback like a mic. There are lots of other posts out there and info on changing tubes to lower gain. This is a good amp and mic, so with some experimentation and about $30 investment you can find a good set up.

   Thanks Dave and Al
The basic settings worked out good. I have the master turned up over 5 and NO feedback.
I will have to tubes changed to lower the gain if I run into any problems.
Thanks again,
Rick
