"House of the rising Sun"
 
Does anyone know of house of the rising sun by Bod Dylan?

if so does anyone know how to play it, any of it on harmonica?

most of all i would like a solo, because the organ solo in the song does'nt seem to do it for this great song!

Anyone?

   I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan but I have to admit I never heard his version of House of the Rising Sun. I have no idea where I got this version from. Anyway this is simple and fun to play and sounds great.

There is a house in New Or-leans
-6 -4 5 -5 -6 6 -4 -4

They call the ri-sing sun
-6 -8 -8 7 -6 -6

Its been the ruin of ma-ny poor souls
-8 -8 -4 -5 -6 6 -5 5 -4

And god I know I'm one

Every version of the song I've played and heard has always been in the key of "A minor". I don't know the version you're talking about, but I'd try Am first. If it is Am, try 3rd position on a "G". 3rd position is great for this song.

   Thanks for the key of it. I just don't know how to figure out the key of a song without seeing the sheet music for it. It's on my to do list.

Within the next few months, I plan to add a page to the site that gives tips, hints, and other solutions for "keying" your own songs. In the meantime, try to find a guitar playing friend with a good ear that can help you out. Then all you need to do is figure out whether it's 1st or 2nd position, which is usually fairly obivious by the ability of the person playing.

   I have 2 guitar playing friends and they don't have a clue about what key songs are in. One has been playing for 3 years and still doesn't know. That sounds like a great addition to the site.

By the way, would you be interested in me making a little flash program for this site about the circle of fifths or something? If so, e-mail me about it.
