"My My Hey Hey"

   Hi all,

I've been working on keying My My Hey Hey by Neil Young.
I think it's played on a "C" diatonic, but confirmation would be
great. Also, any tabs available would be great, but if I have the
right key, i should be able to work it out.

Thanks,
Reid

Reid,

If you find a sound file for it at Amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com or iTunes, paste the link here, I'll tell you the key of the harmonica used.

Play on,

   Dave,

I can't find a link with a preview long enough that includes harmonica. However, I can email you the song if you wish.

Thanks,
Reid

Reid,

Most everything he plays, he plays 1st Position. Send me any link and I can determine the key of the song and then we'll know the 1st Position harmonica key. If you can send me an edited down 30 second MP3 clip, that would work also.

Play on,
Dave Gage

Reid,

I can see why you'd have trouble with that one.

Some of the 1st Position folksy players like Neil and Tom Petty occasionally use the relative minor to the 1st Position which is called 4th Position.

I don't recommend 4th if you have the choice, but in this case, the song is in the key of G minor and he's playing a key of Bb diatonic in the 4th Position.

Here's a bit of the tabs to get you started from the first solo-
5B 5B 5B 5B 6B 6B 6D 5B
5B 4B 4B 4B 4D 5B 5B {SUS}

   Dave,

I was thought he might be using a "Bb" harp, but I don't have one yet, so I couldn't key it.

I really appreciate your help, thank you very much,
Reid
