Star Of county down

-3 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6
In Banbridge Town in the County Down
-6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 -3 -4 -4
One morning last July,
-3 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6
From boreen green came a sweet colleen
6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5
And she smiled as she passed me by.

-3 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6
She looked so sweet from her two bare feet
6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 -3 -4 -4
To the sheen of her nut brown hair.
-3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6
Such a coaxing elf, sure I shook myself
6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5 5
For to see I was really there.

-7 -8 -7 -7 -6 6 -6 -6 -6 6
From Bantry Bay up to Derry Quay and
-6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 -3 -4 -4
From Galway to Dublin Town,
6 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6
No maid I've seen like the brown colleen
6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5 5
That I met in the County Down.

What a lovely song. I'ld really like to learn it.
What key is it played in? Link I listened to:
http://www.contemplator.com/ireland/star.html
And is the -# a draw note? Just messing around with it, I think so...

Alan,

That MIDI file is in the key of B minor and based on the submitted tab, it appears to be played in 5th Position. Therefore, you would need a key of "G" diatonic to play along with that MIDI file.

And yes, the minus sign before a hole number means to draw.

The book Irish & American Fiddle Tunes for Harmonica by Glenn Weiser has a version of this song played in crossharp on a C harmonica. I haven't learned to play it yet.
