: How much is a D major harmonica worth that has the serial number 1865. It is a "Marine Band" harmonica and it says on the box that if you buy it the manufacturer will give you a free beginners book. It is in perfect condition and has the original case. Please email me.

You have a simple, classic diatonic Hohner Marine band harmonica. Wood body, a bit leaky, with nails holding down both covers, and 10 holes, 2 reed plates, 20 reeds, 8 notes per scale, 3 octaves. It's a classic 'starter' harmonica that also is used by many professional performers. The 'book' is a silly fold-out pamphlet. The case is probably cardboard, with blue print on it. This harmonica is ubiquitous - it's everywhere, standard issue, and worth $15-20 tops. Play around with it! It can lead you to bigger, and better things! Good luck! Regards
