: Is it okay to run water through my harmonica when I'm done playing to keep it clean? Or will this damage it?
Hey Brian,
I used to have some Blues Harp harmonicas, which were ruined because I though that that hot water would clean and give them a raw, funky and cool sound.
It didn't take long for the metal to rust and the wooden combs to swell.
But then, back in 1977, we didn't have www.harmonicalessons.com to keep us (from the new beginners to the advanced experts) on the cutting edge of musical brilliance.
Keep your harmonicas dry. That will extend the life of your instruments.
Wishing you success in your endeavors,
Patrick
